From 3 February 2026, the minimum age requirement to use our email services will be eighteen (18) years. This article explains what to do if this change affects you or a family member.
Why is this change taking place?
This change to our Terms of Service (section 2.3) is in response to evolving online safety laws and regulatory requirements in Australia. We expect this to impact only a very small number of our customers, and appreciate your understanding.
Am I entitled to a pro-rata refund?
Yes. If you are under 18 and there is time left on your current subscription term, you will be entitled to receive a pro-rata refund due to the change in our eligibility requirements.
If I am under 18, do I need to take action?
Yes. Before 3 February 2026, you must:
- Cancel your email account subscription (which automatically schedules a cancellation before your next renewal date); AND
- Write to support@themessaging.co (from your email address with us) to request:
- We amend the cancellation date to be the actual date you cancelled your account; and
- We issue a pro-rata refund to your saved payment method.
Can I change or delete my payment method?
Not yet. Our system will issue any pro-rata refund to the payment method used to pay for the email account subscription. If you would like us to delete your payment method immediately after we issue the refund, please request that to be done when you write to us about your cancellation/refund.
How long will it take to get my pro-rata refund?
We aim to process your request within 10 business days.
